Positive Vibes Only Supports Mental Health Awareness at Gary’s Neighborhood Wellness Block Party

Positive Vibes Only, a nonprofit committed to empowering youth and underserved communities through music, mentorship, and wellness education, proudly participated in the Neighborhood Wellness Block Party on Saturday, July 19 outside the Gary Health & Human Services Building at 1145 W. 5th Avenue.

Organized by the City of Gary, the event was a community celebration focused on promoting mental health and addiction recovery resources. Residents were introduced to a wide range of services offered by the city, while enjoying food, games, and family-friendly activities aimed at fostering healing, connection, and wellness.

Positive Vibes Only hosted a booth at the event, providing attendees with information about the organization’s programs and initiatives, including youth empowerment workshops, mentorship opportunities, and creative wellness experiences. Staff and volunteers engaged directly with community members to share resources, answer questions, and build new relationships in support of the nonprofit’s expanding regional outreach.

The organization’s founder, RJ Griffith, a Chicago-based singer-songwriter and actor, also performed live and delivered a motivational speech centered on mental health, personal growth, and the power of resilience. His message encouraged attendees to prioritize self-care, reach out for help when needed, and support one another through life’s challenges.

“We’re proud to be part of an event that not only brings the community together, but also puts real support systems within reach,” said Griffith. “At Positive Vibes Only, we believe that when you pair music with meaningful conversation and community resources, you create a space where people feel seen, heard, and empowered.”

Positive Vibes Only’s involvement in the Neighborhood Wellness Block Party reflects its ongoing mission to support underserved communities through creative expression, mental wellness, and leadership development. The organization continues to build partnerships across the Midwest to bring its message of positivity and purpose to more people.
